Replacing 620 feet of a 16-inch diameter natural gas pipeline poses its own set of challenges, but executing this work in a heavily trafficked retail shopping center while maintaining service to customers through construction is another story.  Coffman provided an award-winning solution using advanced piping techniques and directional drilling technology to maintain service to The Gas Company’s customers through construction with little traffic disruptions and damage to the landscaping.

Coffman used hot-tap, stopple, and by-pass techniques to replace the existing 10-inch line with a new 16-inch line while it was in operation - techniques that can be performed safely by only a few companies in the world.  “Coffman Engineers met and exceeded our needs – providing professional design services and utilitzing engineering technology to maintain service to The Gas Company’s customers throughout construction.” –Charles Calvet, PE, Manager, HawaiiGas (Formerly The Gas Company)
