Comfortable, inviting, and healthy learning spaces are desired by today's educators. These desires cross district boundaries, whether rural, urban, remote, public, or private. As such, when we work with educational facility staff, we become an extension of the staff to see that the building functions for their needs. Regardless of whether the facility is on a higher-education or k-12 campus, clients benefit from our understanding of tight construction schedules. We have been involved with modernizations, new construction, additions and renovations, system upgrades, technology upgrades, lighting upgrades, system replacements, and surveys and facility assessments.
We understand the nature of levies and bonds and how they affect the ability of a district to deliver necessary improvements. We are involved in projects from conceptual planning through construction administration and project close-out. We start each school project by meeting with the Owner’s staff to determine their needs and expectations for the facility. This often includes the Superintendent, Principal, and Maintenance Staff, which gives us a broad understanding of the issues important to the client. Each school design we undertake is unique and we use this information to tailor our design to meet the requirements of the building.
Capital campaigns and increasingly public-private partnerships drive development for higher education. Coffman has the knowledge and creative insight to design educational facilities to fit the needs of today’s students and faculty regardless of delivery method or funding structure. The core of our clients' success has been because we closely work with facilities engineers, faculty, and architects to make a campus structure function in its surroundings. Coffman helps building owners and facility operators identify practical and cost effective system improvements and upgrades that support sustainable facility operation goals. We take pride in the ability to offer a dependable and knowledgeable staff with the necessary expertise and experience to meet the challenges of these important projects.
Designing for both k-12 facilities and higher education.
“…decisive and highly organized, willing to prioritize projects to fit a school’s needs. [Scott’s] most import quality is that he is absolutely unflappable in any situation—a real blessing in an elementary school.”
